Fusion Taco Tuesday! (Indonesian Turkey Tacos with Serious Foodie Sauce)

I was sent some sauces to try from Serious Foodie,  They have some great flavors!  I was sent sauces inspired by Vietnamese, Sri Lankan and Indonesian cuisine.  I decided to try the Indonesian one and make it into tacos!

Wow, these were so good.  I used turkey, but I think they would be even better with beef or pork.  While the sauce was spicy, using a little sour cream really cooled it down.  The limey slaw was so good too!  I love making fusion food.  Remember my Oktoberfest tacos? I need to make those again too!

Pin it for when exotic Taco Tuesday comes around!

Indonesian Turkey Tacos with Serious Foodie Sauce

1 lb. ground turkey, beef or pork
1/2 onion diced
1 jar serious foodie Indonesian Sambal hot sauce
tortillas
sour cream
juice of half a lime
limey slaw, recipe below

Add the meat to a skillet (if using a pan that isn't non stick, add a little oil if you are using turkey).  Brown on medium heat and stir until no longer pink.  Add the onions and cook until translucent.  Add about 3/4 the jar of Indonesian Sambal hot sauce (eyeball it, you want there to be liquid to absorb).  Lower the heat and let simmer for 5-10 minutes. Squeeze the lime over it and mix.

Place a bit of meat in a tortilla and top with slaw and sour cream.  Garnish with cilantro and green onion if you are so inclined.

Limey Slaw:

Half a bag of coleslaw mix
1/2 tbsp minced ginger (or 1/4 tbsp ground)
3 limes
1 tbsp. soy sauce
1 tbsp. olive oil
1/4 cup chopped cilantro
2 green onions, sliced

Zest one of the limes into a medium bowl.  Juice the three limes into the bowl.  Add the rest of the ingredients and toss to combine.  Let sit for a few minutes to let flavors meld.

Happy Cooking!

Missy
