Recapping the Holidays-Hard to get back to reality.

Hi friends!  It has been awhile!  I took off some time to enjoy the holidays and it sure was a good one!  I was off all last week and stayed with Kevin in San Antonio where he is for work currently.  It was so nice to relax after all the hustle and bustle!  Here we go with a recap of the past couple of busy weeks.

We still don't have computers at work because of the cyber attack.  So that made my clients' Gingerbread House competition the Thursday before Christmas even more epic!  The winner was so detailed. It was made by architects, of course.  This one photo doesn't do it justice.  There were murals, urine, empty beer cans, you name it!

That day I also had my 1000th pure barre class!  I have been taking class there since January of 2015 and it is still hard and still makes me feel like a million dollars.  I was so happy to cross that off before the new year!

Friday, I worked a half day and then met my Delta Gamma friends for our annual Pink Poinsettia  Lunch in the Quarter.  We had a lovely meal and then met everyone under the sun at Old Absinthe house as per tradition.  It is so funny how everyone just knows to go there after lunch; it feels like a carry over from the days before cell phones!

We had a sequin theme!  Love these ladies!
I had to be a good girl and eat a big lunch and watch my drinking, it was a full day.  After all that, Kevin and I went to a friend's 40th birthday at the Sazerac house.  It was a whisky tasting!

I was ready for bed shortly thereafter...
Saturday Night, we had our sibling dinner.  My sisters and our significant others decided to go to a nice dinner instead of giving gifts.  Unfortunately, my nephew had the flu and one of my brothers in law could not make it.  He got my leftovers, so there's that!

We had one glass of wine after at the lovely Delachaise.
Sunday was a lazy day and we binged the Righteous Gemstones and barely left the house.  I worked on Monday and we finished the binge after and had Meatless Monday dinner.  It was the perfect recovery!

On Christmas Eve, I got my hair done, which I will never do again, it was a mad house!  We met at my parents' house to toast and let the kiddos open presents.  We got a few presents from my parents too.  I got the Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer & Volumizer Hot Air Brush and let me tell you, it is a game changer.  I usually takes me 45 minutes to dry and style my hair.  Now it takes 8!  Get this thing y'all!

So happy to have this guy back under my tree, hee hee.
Christmas day we had a loungey day at my grandparents' house and had lots of yummy casseroles.  I went to work Thursday and Friday and it was really dead with no computers and no boss.  I took a half day on Friday because we flew out to Vegas for a quick weekend to watch LSU in the Peach Bowl/College Football Playoff.  Vegas is not really my jam, but we made it a really fun 36 hours!

We had dinner at STK and I was a bit underwhelmed for the price.  The atmosphere was fun though! Saturday was game day!  We reserved an area in the Wynn Sports Book for the game.

Mimosas to start the day of Victory!

And looked who sat in front of us!  The more the game went on, the more we messed with him!

Our fancy victorious set up.  I had more potato skins than I had in the past 10 years!
After some gambling, the ladies petitioned to go to old Vegas.  I had never been.  We got our wish and headed out to Freemont Street.  It was awesome!  Concerts, excellent people watching, way cheaper drinks and just a great time!

Still in a great mood about the Tigers!
Kevin and I flew home separately to our respective homes and I cleaned and purged my house Sunday.  Christmas did not get taken down like I wanted but that usually happens on the 6th in these parts anyway!

On Monday, Bitsy and I hopped in the car and drove to San Antonio to spend the week off work with Kevin.  I listened to 22 hours, an American Nightmare the whole way.  It was really good and passed the time swimmingly! It is so sad that such a horrific crime like that happened.  But if you like true crime, it is for you.

I got a class pass while I was there and tried out Smart Barre.  It was  a great class! After I hit up my happy place, Central Market and grabbed some of the stuff for our New Year's dinner, authentic Chili.

Loved getting some barre in!

The one in Austin will always be my favorite...

Mmmm Chili! It took all day but it was so worth it!
We made s'mores by the fire pit and made it till midnight...barely!
I woke up with the worst back ache I have ever had.  My whole back hurt, especially my lower back. I guess the long ride in the car and new barre class got me.  We drove to Austin New Year's Day to hang out with my bestie Aimee and her hubby.  We watched football while a brisket smoked and we made some traditional New Year's sides.

Look at that smoke ring!
Those are some creamy black eyed peas!
Collard greens in the instapot, what a game changer!

Thursday and Friday were lazy lounge days. I got a massage on Thursday to help my back. We went on a day date on Friday to the adorable Boerne and walked around the old town shopping and trying craft beer.  I drove home Saturday and made great time!

Sunday was a sad day with the Saints losing.  I made the most of it by getting all my Christmas decorations down and making spaghetti.  Did you watch the Golden Globes?  I caught a bit and loved watching Ellen get her award!

Well that was a mouthful!  How was your holidays?  Hope they were magical!  Back to reality.

Happy Cooking!

Missy
