Recapping the weekend-Hello February

Hi friends, happy Tuesday!  I feel like the day after the Superbowl should be a national holiday, who is with me?  I just couldn't get to drafting after the game, but had already uploaded photos, so let's recap on a Tuesday, shall we?

On Friday Night, we celebrated my cousin Hope's 21st Birthday.  She is the youngest of us and it was about time she became legal.  We started the evening with appetizers and champagne at her older sister's house, who is two cousins behind me.  We are a very large Irish Catholic family, so there are a lot of us!

How cute is this balloon display?
We all had Hope headpieces!

Perfect for a selfie!
The spread.
My beautiful sisters and me.
We took a limo bus to the casino.
The cousins had to visit our uncle! He is the bar manager at the steakhouse in the Casino.
I love this cousin of mine!

On Saturday, I was productive and restful.  I went to Pure Barre in the morning and made a Target run after.  I came home and purged my closet, bleached my sinks and rewatched the National Championship game.  That put me in the mood for a steak, so I made myself a delightful dinner.
Nothing like a steak and baked potato!
Want to hear a funny story about getting older?  My aforementioned Target run was unintentional.  I was really heading to the Dillard's Clearance Center on the other side of the mall to look for a ball gown.  They were closed.  I walked across the mall into Target for one thing and ended up spending almost $100, of course.  I leave with my basket and realize my car is on the other side of the mall.  So I left my cart and took off sprinting for my car.  My groceries were safe, but I was not.  Apparently a quick jog to your car is hazardous to a 40 year old, lol!
I spent Saturday night on the couch icing my shin splints because of it. At least my former boss was on TV and I had a cute cuddle partner!

On Sunday, I made 8 lbs. of pork shoulder for the Superbowl pop up my Hogs for the Cause team did at Urban South brewery.  We made our traditional fare, a Zapp's pulled pork pie.  It is a walking taco with pulled pork and Zapp's.  It is delicious!

It paired perfectly with an IPA!
We sold out of food really fast and made a lot of money for our charity!  I watched most of the first half there and then raced home for halftime.  Wow, did those ladies rock it, or what?  I can't believe they are both older than me!

Well there you have it.  Perfect mix of fun and productivity with some pup time.  How was your weekend?  What was your favorite Superbowl commercial?

Happy Cooking!

Missy
